The two-time Franklin Fantasy Baseball League champions boast one of the richest farm systems in the game. Shortstop Orlando Arcia and first baseman A.J. Reed highlight a system that in 2016 includes nine Baseball America Top 100 prospects.
Reed, a slugging first baseman, could contribute to the Geckos as soon as 2016.
Long known for their ability to develop top-flight starting pitchers, the Geckos bolstered their stable of arms with the additions of Jake Thompson, Michael Fulmer and Luis Ortiz in 2016. Those three look to join established big league arms Jake Odorizzi and Joe Ross in the Geckos' rotation of the future.
If this system has a weakness, it is up the middle. Only Arcia projects as an up-the-middle starter for the Geckos in 2016. The organization also must bolster its catching depth to compete in the future.
